ART HAPPENS! AND IT’S HAPPENING IN BEDFORD
The fifth annual Weekend Of The Pooka: A Celebration Of The Arts is September 12 through the 14th. This event showcases a myriad of art to view, buy, try, make and take and includes a fine art show, authors, live entertainment, gourmet food, and hands-on crafts. The Commons in historic Bedford comes alive with color, excitement and fun! Free Admission! Free Parking! Free Entertainment! Free Family Fun!
Friday Evening pARTy
The weekend kicks off Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. with a pARTy at Catered Elegance, 1160 Broadway Avenue, featuring one of Cleveland’s hottest bands – WIXY-1260. Meet and greet at 7 p.m. over hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. The evening continues with a musical memory tour of songs of the sixties and seventies. Tickets are on sale August 1, at Bedford City Hall, 165 Center Road. For more information, phone 440-232-1600.

Saturday & Sunday
On Saturday and Sunday, the festivities continue with live performances of music and dance, fine art and crafts, author book signings, hands-on art activities, and multiple gourmet food vendors.
Explore Imagination Village – where budding artists young and old can expand their creativity. A place for hands-on art activities where attendees can write a poem, make a clay figure, play a musical instrument, paint a mural, learn Bonsai or origami, make a hat, design a mask, and more, the Village is open all weekend!
Poems On The Wind
Unlock your creative energy and connect with the power of poetry. Come to the Southeast Branch Library, 70 Columbus Road, to create a poetry flag to waft in the breeze. Write a poem or share your favorite poem with others. You supply the creativity – we’ll supply the materials. All flags will be on display at the library throughout the summer – unless you prefer to take yours home. On September 13, the collection will be strung around Bedford Commons on “Pooka Weekend”.
Garden Collages With The Bedford Garden Club
Celebrating their 87th anniversary in Bedford, members from The Bedford Garden Club will present an activity that includes information about gardening and herbs and also provide materials to make a garden collage to take home.
Ancient Art Of Spinning & Weaving
Presented by the Western Reserve Spinning & Weaving Guild, see how fibers are spun and woven. Also take the opportunity to view unique textile art.
Eye Fly Away
Create flight-themed artwork with the Cleveland Sight Center using recycled materials without using your eyes.
Imaginative Painting with Augusto Bordelois
Internationally known artist, Augusto Bordelois leads visitors in a fun and challenging creative adventure that starts with painting a mural blindfolded! No experience required except a desire to flow with the creative process. Visit with him both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Cirque du Papier Comes To Town!
Visual artist, Michael Roy will give an interactive demonstration at Imagination Village. He brings origami into the new millennium, combining classic Japanese-style origami with the latest in high-tech folding transforming single flat squares of paper into 3D forms of animals, flowers, sea life, birds and decorative objects. Magic Mike Magic Show
Magic Mike, acclaimed magician, illusionist, hypnotist and balloon artist delight both children and adults with his interactive show that includes magic, comedy and illusions. Afterward, visit either Magic Mike for a crazy balloon creation or his partner Catena for an artistic face painting.

Live models will stroll the grounds to exhibit unique gowns and fashion items from the Red Carpet Boutique & Bridal.

American Turf Garden Center provides the live container plants that decorate the event on the Commons. These plants will be sold after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at bargain prices!
Bedford History Displayed
The Bedford Historical Society is preparing an exhibit of artist Richard Sedlon’s Pooka paintings, sculptures and posters in the Town Hall Museum. The newly renovated Sedlon Garden behind the Dunham House will feature storytelling, music of acoustic guitarist, Robert Spinks, and poetry reading – much like the days when the Kokoon Klub met there many years ago. The Old Church On The Square displays the work of early Bedford artists. Don’t miss its beautiful stained glass windows!
