Olympic Brass -- Olympic Brass presents “Keyboard Classics For Brass”. Founded to provide audiences with the best of brass and brass chamber music, Olympic Brass is the new voice on the Northeast Ohio music tapestry! Composed of five of the most accomplished musicians in northeast Ohio, Olympic Brass is brass at its peak! Magic Mike Productions -- Magic Mike, acclaimed magician, hypnotist and balloon artist will delight both children and adults with his interactive show of magic, comedy and illusion. Nothing short of mind-boggling, Mike’s illusions have impressed audiences all over Northeast Ohio. After the show, visit Magic Mike for a crazy balloon creation or his friend Catena to have a unique face painting. Complete a survey about your experience at Weekend Of The Pooka for a chance to win free tickets. Poems on the Wind -- It is said Richard Sedlon would nail original poetry to the trees in his garden. In that spirit, come to the Southeast Branch Library to create your own poetry flag to waft in the breeze. Poems on the Wind is a summer long project. Write your own poem or share your favorite poem with others. You supply the creativity -- we'll supply the materials. All flags will be on display at the library throughout the summer. On September 15-16, they will be strung around Bedford Commons as part of "The Weekend of the Pooka - A Celebration of the Arts. Gourmet Food Vendors to Please the Palate -- Food artists like Umami Moto, Catered Elegance and Zydeco Bistro will offer a variety of unique food choices to please any gourmand. Bon Appetit! Plant Sale -- American Turf Landscaping provides the live container plants decorating the Commons. The plants will be offered for sale after the event on Sunday at discounted prices. Augusto Bordelois Stimulates Imagination -- Internationally known artist, Augusto Bordelois will lead children in a fun and challenging creative adventure that starts with painting a mural blindfolded! From there, it takes them to the limits of their imagination. No experience required except a desire to flow with the creative process. Visit with him both Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Best of Bluegrass Singers in Northeast Ohio -- You have heard them on radio WKSU's "Folk Alley". Now come and hear them live. Paul Kovac & Rachel Brown perform "Americana Country" on Sunday. Expect to hear great duet singing and lively string instruments with traditional and original songs. Cool Jazz with Northcoast Jass Collective -- North Coast Jazz Collective plays straight-up modern jazz that is creative, emotional and accessible. And it swings! Most of their repertoire is comprised of original compositions with some arrangements of modern jazz standards. Hear them Sunday afternoon while browsing the Art Show. Cirque du Papier Comes to Town -- Interactive strolling and visual artist, Michael Roy Baldridge will be appearing on Bedford Commons this weekend. He brings origami into the new millennium, combining classic Japanese style origami with the latest in high tech folding; transforming single, flat squares of paper into 3D forms of animals, flowers, sea life, birds, and decorative objects. One sheet of paper. No cuts. No tears. No glue. With dexterity, quick wit, and knowledge, he will share the art that is origami. And you could go home with a cherished keepsake. Cats On Holiday -- Cats On Holiday is a roots-based, Swamp Pop band that has been pleasing Ohio audiences for 15 years with its own special blend of Texas and Louisiana inspired Blues and Zydeco, infused with healthy doses of original songs and poems about urban life. They perform at the best live venues including Cleveland Browns stadium, House of Blues, Severance Hall, Cain Park. COH’s live performances include crowd participation on various percussion instruments. This band always has fun! Come on down and dance some... Meet the Authors -- Meet and talk with authors: R.K. Avery, Rowan Canterbury, William F. Mapel, Janie Reinart, and S. Andrew Swann. Children’s books, sci-fi fantasies, psychological thrillers, love and family example the array of subjects by these Ohio authors. They will be available for book signings and to answer questions from budding writers. Autographed copies of their books will be available for sale. NBTV Puppets -- Natural Bridges Lots Of Laughs Company’s strolling ventriloquist puppeteers have entertained audiences all over the United States. Giggle and laugh with Safari Kirky, Nutty Squirrel or Dr. Von as they stroll the Commons. Bedford Garden Club -- Celebrating their 85th year in Bedford, members from The Bedford Garden Club will present an activity that includes information about herbs and also provide materials to make a garden collage to take home. Mad Mountain Juggler -- John Flower is back again this year to teach the art of juggling. Try your hand at a skill that is as much a delight for the child in you, as it is a great exercise for you body and mind. With John as your guide, you’ll find juggling is entertaining and easy to learn! |
